Once you learn how to marble paper there are no limits to what you can do with it. This marble paper is easy to make and each piece is unique!
You do not need much in regards to paper marble supplies. The step-by-step instructions are very thorough and will make the process a lot easier.

What Paper Marbling Supplies Do I Need
- newspaper or some sore of drop cloth to protect your work area
- liquid starch
- acrylic paints
- cups to mix in
- large container bigger then the size of your paper, cookie sheets work well for this too
- scissors
- popsicle sticks
- paintbrushes
A lot of these paper marbling supplies you will be able to find in your kitchen or craft room.
There are a lot of fun ways that you can use paper marble. Now that you will know how to make your own, you can do as many paper marble projects as you would like.
I personally love paper marble because of all of the possibilities. You can make each set with different color combinations.
I am a big fan of pinks and blues so I love the pink and blue example seen in the photo above. You, of course, can mix your favorite colors for your marble.
How To Marble Paper
Here are a few tips for marbling paper with liquid starch.
- if your paint mixture is too thick, add more water
- if your paint mixture is too thin add more paint
- move slowly when adding your paper to the paint/starch mixture, faster movements will disturb the water and cause an undesired pattern
- Use cardstock
This is a super fun craft to do. But paper marbling is also a delicate and also mess craft. I did it with my kids and they really had fun doing it.
With that said, learning how to marble paper is way easier than it may sound. Just take your time and follow each step closely.
If you go too fast, you will end up mixing your colors rather than giving them the marble effect. And as they mix, they start to look milky or like watered-down mud.
You will also want to make sure that you give your paper enough time to fully dry before using it. While we the paper is too delicate to cut, or craft with. I allowed mine to dry about 24 hours, although it was easy well before that.
I suggest letting it air dry. However, you can use a blow dryer on low. But be very careful as you stand the chance of blowing your marbled paper onto the floor and possibly damaging your design.
If you want to create marble effects like this one, you will have to pay close attention to the instructions. This is a 100% DIY, project that you will do yourself from start to finish. And once it's done you will have some of the most beautiful paper ever. Beautiful marble paper to make stationery, bookmarks, and other things with.
You will not need any special marbling kit, methyl cellulose, or marble paint. Just some simple materials.
The only materials you will need are acrylic paint, card stock, and a few more simple ones.
The basic gist of the project would be to place a sheet of paper into some paint and warm water, remove the paper and leave the paper to dry.

You are basically giving the paper a little water bath, but rather than cleaning, you are adding to it.
